The Tramp
From the creators of the multi-award winning “Vincent – His Quest To Love and Be Loved”, comes a brand-new musical about the life of comedic genius, Charlie Chaplin.
The Tramp played by Daniel Anderson and accompanied by Paul Ferreria, is Charlie Chaplin’s alter ego: a new musical that tells the story of Charlie Chaplin through the perspective of his old friend the beloved Tramp character. The show follows The Tramp as he reflects on Chaplin's rise to fame. He ponders on their symbiotic relationship, and the eventual betrayal of their friendship, that led to Chaplin's exile from America for communist sympathies.
The retelling of Charlie’s story through popular music and silent film gives a fresh view on the life of the iconic, yet controversial comedic genius. The Tramp was everyman’s champion shielding a shy, moody, fastidious Chaplin. And with the arrival of the talking movies, the Tramp was sidelined, and Chaplin himself stepped into the limelight. With this newfound voice, Charlie tarnishes his image with naïve political speeches and scandalous love affairs. without the Tramp in his corner, he became an easy target for the cross-dressing J Edgar Hoover and his handmaiden, the gossipmonger Hedda Hopper.
“The Tramp” explores the complicated bond between an artist and the character they create, blending comedy and tragedy in a heartfelt reflection on fame, identity, and betrayal.
“A ten-out-of-ten production” – Robyn Sassen, MYVIEW
“Daniel Anderson’s stunning one-man cabaret doesn’t just resurrect Charlie, it excavates the heart-breaking human cost behind the world’s beloved silent clown. A fantastic show… it is theatre that reminds us why live performance matters”. – Barry Morisse

Circle Song - Ashley Dowds
**SILVER OVATION AWARD WINNER** Two Irishmen leave the shore of Northern Ireland to search for a new sense of belonging; a letter written back in 1864 is found in an old trunk; a woman wakes up from a coma, inside a moment of time when she was a 15 year old girl… Circle Song is a memory piece. Not quite play or monologue, not quite story-telling, it is spoken to the audience from a narrator’s perspective across an arc of time. Sometimes it is from the voices of people, re-imagined in the past, who left the shores of Ireland and England to begin a life in South Africa. But it rests on the story prompted by a real life event: After a severe brain operation, my mother wakes to the world as a fifteen year old version of herself. ‘Circle Song’ is an exploration of time, memory, family history, and the interweaving of personal and historical narratives. It uses fragmented memories, overheard conversations, and historical anecdotes to construct a multi-layered story. The structure moves between personal recollections and broader family history, spanning generations and geographical locations, from Ireland to Africa, and explores the impact of these migrations on subsequent generations, connecting their identities and experiences to the past.
‘It is a beautifully crafted work and needs to be produced by one of the major Theatres. It needs to be seen". Kate Normington
